Pre-authorization is a room setting, not a site setting. Configure the room where the tabs are actually run, usually the bar.
Set the pre-auth amounts
- In the Admin Portal Main Menu, click Location Setup then Rooms.
- Select the room that will use pre-authorized tabs.
- In Pre-Auth Amount, enter the initial authorization, for example $10. Set this at roughly the site average check.
- In Additional Auth Increment Amount, enter the top up amount, for example $5.
- Click Save.
Worked example: a $10 pre-auth with a $5 increment authorizes $10 when the tab opens. When the ticket passes $10 the POS authorizes another $5, taking the tab ceiling to $15, and so on.
Set a tip threshold warning
This makes the POS warn staff when a tip is unusually large as a share of the check.
- In the Admin Portal Main Menu, click Location Setup.
- Open the Transaction Settings tab.
- Enter a percentage in Tip Threshold Warning Percentage. Use the tip overage percentage defined by the site card processor.
- Click Save.
Leave the box empty and the POS shows no tip threshold alerts at all.
