Ingredients are the individual items that make up your business’s recipes. Some ingredients may be the same as your menu items. For example, bacon might be an item on your menu, but it’s also an ingredient in other dishes. Whereas you might have a bacon cheeseburger on the menu, the bacon cheeseburger is a menu Item, but it is not an ingredient.

To access the Ingredients screen, log into the Admin Console, select an appropriate account.  In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Ingredients. In the Ingredients screen, click New to create a new ingredient.

Set Image: If you click the Set Image box, the program opens the Set Image panel. To add a graphic to the image collection, click Upload Image (+), browse your local drive, and select an appropriate graphic. The program will upload to graphic to the image library. If you double-click a graphic in the collection, the program will display that graphic as the ingredient in the menu.

This image only appears in the menus for Kiosk, Skip the Line, and the Online Ordering website.

To remove a graphic from the collection, select the graphic and click Remove Image. To close the Set Image panel, click Close.

Name: Type a descriptive name for the new ingredient.

Short Name: If an ingredient has an unusually long name (such as “Mozzarella”), you can enter a shorter name (like “Mozz”) in the Short Name box.

Also, if you have staff members that speak different languages, you could enter an ingredient’s name in an alternate language in the Short Name box and then set the ingredient to display both versions in the POS.

Sub Item: In this list, select an ingredient that can be substituted for this ingredient.

Context Items: To associate this ingredient with one or more context item, click the Create or Select a Context Item list and select an appropriate context item. This list includes all of the context items you have created in the Context Items screen.

Every context item you add includes a Multiplier box. If necessary, you can enter a multiplier in the new context item’s Multiplier box, and the POS will apply it to the context item’s default price when it is ordered.

For example, if you enter “2.00,” the POS will double the price of the context item. If you enter “0.00” or “1.00”, the POS will use the context item’s default price without any modification.

Assigned Modifiers: In this list, you can add this ingredient to one or more modifiers by clicking the Select a Modifier list and selecting an appropriate modifier. You can add as many modifiers to this list as necessary. To delete a modifier from this list, click its Delete button.

Later, when you order a menu item that is associated with a modifier in this list, the POS will display this ingredient as one of the modifier’s options.

Misc. Ingredient: If you select this check box, the POS will allow you to modify this ingredient’s name and price immediately after you add it to a ticket. Specifically, if you add an ingredient with this setting to a ticket, the POS immediately displays its default name and amount as boxes in the display panel.

In this screen, if you tap the Amount box, the POS will display a keypad, enabling you to enter a new price for the ingredient. If you tap the item’s Name box, the POS will allow you to delete the ingredient’s default name and enter a new name.

To return to this screen, select the ingredient in the ticket and then tap Modify.
