Genius for Restaurant at a glance

Genius for Restaurant at a glance

Genius for Restaurant is the Global Payments restaurant point of sale. It runs on countertop terminals, handhelds and iPads, and is managed from a browser based Admin Portal.

The pieces

  • The POS. What staff touch. Rooms, tables, tickets, items, payments, reports.
  • The customer facing display (CFD). A second screen the guest sees, showing the ticket as it builds and prompting for tip, signature and receipt choice.
  • The Admin Portal. Where the menu, staff, printers, taxes, discounts and settings are configured. Changes sync down to the devices.
  • Kitchen printers and kitchen display screens. Where sent items land.
  • Online ordering, kiosk and delivery integrations. Orders arrive on the same tickets.

Hardware you will see in the field

  • XC23 countertop terminal, usually with a CFD attached.
  • ELO stands, with a CFD or a card reader.
  • Verifone T650 payment device. Note it cannot run alongside a PAX or CFD on the same terminal.
  • Handheld 2.5 / Mobile 2.0 for tableside ordering and payment.

The three ticket colours

In the Room screen every ticket tile is colour coded by status, so a manager can read the floor at a glance.

Two software lines

Genius for Restaurant ships as Genius NextGen (Android, the current line, version 3.x) and Genius Classic (iOS, version 9.x). Both are managed from the same Admin Portal. Check which line a site runs before following a version specific instruction.
