Gift Card Cash out for cards with less that $10

As a reminder to all shops, Gift Cards under $10.00 may be cashed out if requested by a guest.
This is a CA state law requirement. If the amount is $10.00 or more then we cannot cash the Gift Card out. All CSS employees must be aware of these requirements. Listed below are the steps necessary to determine the cash value on a Gift Card and how to cash out an amount of less than $10.00.
Note: Once a Gift Card has been cashed out, collect the Gift Card!

Determine is a Gift Card is less than $10:
  1. Press- New Ticket
  2. Press- Como Cancel Actions
  3. Press- Check out
  4. Enter- GC
  5. Press- Done
  6. Press- Here
  7. Press- Gift
  8. Press- Inquire
  9. Swipe- Gift Card- this will show you the gift card balance

If it is under $10.00 and the guest wants to redeem that amount for cash:
  1. Press- Adjust
  2. Press- Gift Card Amount
  3. Enter- amount to payout (Gift Card balance - must be under $10.00)
  4. Press- Apply
  5. Press- Gift
  6. Enter- Amount
  7. Press- Redeem
  8. Swipe- Gift Card
  9. Count- money to be given to the guest
 
Steps to reduce the Cash Due:
  1. Press- Menu button in top right
  2. Press- Cash Drawer
  3. Press- Pay in/out select cash pay type
  4. Press- Gift Card Pay Out
  5. Enter- amount to payout (must be under $10.00)
  6. Press- Pay Out
  7. Press- OK
Be sure to keep the Gift Card and save the Paid-Out receipt along with the balance receipt.
The Paid-Out receipt is to be scanned and sent to Becky along with a day’s end note.
Place both receipts into DSR.
