How To: Activate Heartland Surcharge
This is a guide on how to setup Surcharging on Heartland Restaurant. Please verify all legal requirements before implementing.
Surcharging will add a charge of up to 3% to your tickets.
A surcharge notice will be added to your checks
Surcharging details:
- Can be used with any payment device
- Charges on Debit card transactions*
- Tax is added to surcharge and cannot be removed
- Does not apply to online orders
- Does not apply to text to pay
- Does not apply to scan to pay
*Surcharging currently applies to debit transactions which it is not intended to. There is a new form of surcharging coming from Heartland that will not apply to debit but it is not yet available.
How to activate surcharge
- Log in to your portal at hrpos.heartland.us
- Navigate to Account Menu > Adjustments > Select NEW
- Check the "Credit Cards" option. This will rename and customize the adjustment. Your surcharge can be a maximum of 3%. Save the adjustment. The charge should look like the following:
- Navigate to Location Setup > Customer Receipt
- Check the box that says "Show Surcharge Clause" and enter your surcharge amount. Hit Save
- Publish.
All card payments done within your business will now have a surcharge added on top.
