Genius 101: split a ticket

Genius offers three ways to split a ticket. Pick the one that matches how the guests actually want to pay.

Open the Split screen

On an open ticket, tap Split in the ticket panel. The Split Ticket screen offers Add Tab, By Seat and Even Split.

Add Tab, for a manual split

  1. Tap Add Tab. An empty tab opens on the ticket. Add as many tabs as you need.
  2. Tap an item. A panel appears with Move to, Evenly and Advanced, plus a button for each tab. The item current tab is highlighted.
  3. To move a whole item, select Move to and tap the destination tab.
  4. To share one item across several tabs, select Evenly and tap each tab that shares it. The POS divides the item and its price evenly between them.
Item split options

By Seat

Tap By Seat. The POS creates one tab per seat number on the ticket and moves every item to the tab matching its seat.

This only works if seat numbers were entered when the items were rung in. If they were not, use Add Tab instead. See :Add modifiers, seat numbers and quantities.

By Seat split

Even Split

  1. Tap Even Split.
  2. Choose the number of ways: 2 Ways, 3 Ways, 4 Ways and so on.

The POS creates that many tabs and divides every item on the ticket evenly across all of them.

Even split result

After the split

Tap Send. The ticket panel now shows controls for moving between the separate tabs, and each tab can be paid on its own.
