The Genius reader handles the full set of gift card operations: loading value, checking or adjusting a balance, and redeeming.

Take a gift card payment

1. On the ticket, tap Tender, then Gift Card > Read from Payment Terminal.
2. The customer swipes the card. The card data and its balance appear on the POS.
3. Enter the payment amount and tap Add Payment.

Note: gift card payments cannot exceed the total due. Take the gift card first, then another tender for the balance.

Look up or adjust a balance

1. Go to Point of Sale and tap the Gift Card button near the top right.
2. Enter the gift card number manually, or tap Read from Payment Terminal and have the customer swipe.
3. The balance appears in a popup, where you can add funds and view the card history.

Tap Complete when the payment is done.

Which gift program

This functionality is for the Global Payments gift program. A site running a third party gift product will not behave the same way. Confirm which program a site is on before troubleshooting a balance that looks wrong.
