Genius menu boards are LG commercial displays that register themselves to the POS Specialists LG Business Cloud account. This article covers registering a display from the TV itself, using nothing but the LG remote. Do it once per display, on install day.
Before you start
- The display is mounted, plugged in and powered on.
- You have the LG remote that shipped with the display.
- You have the business Wi-Fi network name and password. A guest network will not work.
- Installation code: 388445
One remote controls every TV in the room. LG remotes are not paired to a single display, so one button press can change settings on every display in range. Set the displays up one at a time, point the remote straight at the one you are working on, and leave the others powered off until it is their turn.
Step 1: Connect the TV to Wi-Fi
The TV has to be online before it can look up the installation code, so do this first.
- Press the Settings button (gear icon) on the LG remote.
- Select All Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Connection.
- Choose the business network the POS runs on. Do not use a guest network - a guest network that opens a sign-in page in a browser will stop the menu board from reaching Genius.
- Enter the password with the on-screen keyboard and select Connect.
- If the network name is not in the list, scroll to the bottom, choose the option to add a hidden wireless network, then type the network name and password.
- Wait for the status to read Connected to Internet before going on.
If the site filters devices by MAC address, the address of this display is under Network > Advanced Wi-Fi Settings. Have it added to the allow list before you continue.
Step 2: Open LG Business Cloud
- Press Settings on the remote to open the main menu.
- Select All Settings.
- Go to Ez Setting. On some webOS versions it sits under General or Installation.
- Select LG Business Cloud. It may be listed under solutions, ConnectedCare or cloud services.
- If the TV asks for an installation type, choose the standard cloud registration option.
Step 3: Enter the installation code
- Select Installation Code, or Enter Installation Code.
- Type the six-digit code with the remote: 388445
- Confirm the entry. The TV fetches the workspace it belongs to and shows it on screen.
- Check that the workspace details are correct. If the screen reads Unknown or reports an invalid code, re-check the digits and the internet connection, then try again.
- Select Confirm Installation Code.
Step 4: Install and restart
- Select Install to install the LG Business Cloud software.
- The TV downloads the components and shows progress, then restarts - either on its own or after prompting you.
- Let the restart finish before touching the remote again.
Step 5: Confirm the display registered
- Go back to Ez Setting > LG Business Cloud.
- Check Workspace, Version and Server Status. Server status should read connected.
The display is now registered and can be managed remotely from the LG Business Cloud portal. Naming the display, checking firmware and pushing the Genius app are done from that portal - see Set up a Genius menu board on an LG TV.
If this does not work

| There is no Ez Setting or LG Business Cloud entry | The display is a consumer model rather than an LG commercial signage display, or its firmware is too old. Check the model against the order, then update the firmware. |
