Schedule menu board content by daypart

Schedule menu board content by daypart

Dayparts let your boards change on their own: breakfast in the morning, lunch at 11, happy hour at 4. You can also put screens to sleep after close to save power and extend the life of the TVs.

Add a daypart

  1. In the Genius Portal, go to 4-dot menu > Digital Menu Board > Site Controls > Dayparts.
  2. Select Add Daypart, type a name such as Breakfast, and Save.

Set when each daypart starts

  1. Go to Site Controls > Schedules and select Add Schedule (or edit an existing one).
  2. Expand each day of the week, select Add Daypart, choose the dayparts and type a start time for each.
  3. Under Availability, set Active to Yes and use the globe icon to choose the sites. Set Default to Yes only if this is your main schedule.
  4. Save.

Send schedule changes to the stores

  1. Go to Site Manager and open the Daypart Schedule tab. The number in the tab shows changes waiting to sync.
  2. On the schedule row, open the 3-dot menu and choose Sync Schedule.
A new daypart needs content. After adding one, open your content layout and assign a design to every screen for that daypart, then redeploy.

Put screens to sleep after hours

  1. In Site Manager, open the Display Sleep tab.
  2. On your display schema, open the 3-dot menu and choose Edit.
  3. Select Add Sleep Interval and set the start day and time and end day and time.
  4. Select Sync Sleep Time.

Genius recommends sleeping from 15 minutes after close until 15 minutes before open.

Wrong menu at the wrong time? Check the site time zone in the Genius Portal. A site set to the wrong time zone switches dayparts at the wrong hour. Fix the time zone, then redeploy the layout.
